Overview

San Francisco State University often referred to as SF State and SFSU is a public research university in San Francisco, California. The institution, which was founded in 1899, offers 118 distinct Bachelor’s degrees, 94 Master’s degrees, and 5 Doctoral degrees. Romberg Tiburon Center, Downtown Campus, Sierra Nevada Field Campus, and the main campus at Holloway Ave. It houses six academic colleges and four campuses. In addition, the institution has 12 sporting teams that compete at the NCAA Division II level. The university is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities.

 

Students have the opportunity to build the ties and experience that will alter their careers in a globally prominent city that also houses some of the world’s largest IT businesses. The institution is home to around 27,000 students from all over the world. The main campus is located just east of Lake Merced, in a peaceful and beautiful part of town with acres of grass for recreation. The university’s Downtown Campus is in the centre of downtown, only minutes away from the Embarcadero, Salesforce Tower, and the financial district. It is worth noting that the San Francisco State University acceptance rate stands at 84.1% which makes its selection process less selective when compared to other universities around the city.

 

It is the country’s 11th most diverse college, and it also offers a College of Ethnic Studies. In 2017, the institution received an endowment of $83.7 million. Overseas students commence college-level study at the institute as part of the International Year One course, while simultaneously completing modules that help enhance English language proficiency and research abilities. They rapidly become part of a warm international community, with dedicated personnel who assist them acclimate to the fast pace of life as a university student in the United States.

 

Students at San Francisco State University learn outside of classrooms and labs, in the lively community of the Bay Area. Students have made a difference in the real world by working to rehabilitate municipal housing complexes, providing music education to local schools, assisting immigrants in preparing for citizenship examinations and supporting a health clinic for low-income people in San Francisco’s Mission neighbourhood.
